What is Face Yoga?
In very simple words, it is EXERCISING THE FACE!
You might wonder ‘But, why do I need to exercise my face?' You would want to exercise your face for the same reason that you exercise your body. You may be surprised to know that just like your body, your face has over 50 muscles. Now, we all know the importance of working out our body to build, strengthen and tone the muscles. Then why ignore your face?
The facial muscles need to be exercised to combat the effects of loss of muscle mass and tone that comes with aging and bad facial habits. But unlike the muscles of the body, the facial muscles are tiny and the skin on the face is attached to these facial muscles. When the muscles beneath the skin start to lose their mass and atrophy with aging, it pulls down the skin attached to it, leading to sagging, wrinkles, and lines.
FACE YOGA is a natural, holistic approach to lifting and toning your face without the use of invasive procedures like Botox, fillers, and cosmetic surgeries. The exercises promote blood flow to facial muscles, increase the oxygen and nutrient supply to the skin, thus significantly improving the texture and tone of the facial skin.
Although there are few different forms of facial exercises, I firmly believe that ‘Face Yoga’ is the best and I will explain why.
"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self."
– Bhagawad Gita
Why Face Yoga?
The facial muscles also tend to carry a lot of tension and tightness due to stress, emotions, over usage, or inactivity. As much as it’s important to exercise the face, it is also important to release the tension in your face and relax your facial muscles.
And that is precisely why I believe Face yoga is the best form of facial exercise as it combines facial exercises with acupressure, relaxation, and massage techniques that work together to lift and tone certain dormant facial muscles along with releasing tension and relaxing other overactive facial muscles.
Similar to yoga for the body, Face yoga applies mindfulness, conscious breathing and explores the mind-body connection offering far greater benefits than just physical changes which improve the confidence and overall well-being of a person.
Also, once you master Face yoga it is very easy to incorporate the practice into your daily lifestyle and does not take up too much time. It’s simple, effective, and easy to practice anytime, anywhere. The results are long-lasting, devoid of any side-effects, and most importantly…….in your control.
"Yoga does not transform the way we see things….
it transforms the person who sees."
– BKS Iyenger
